Topic & Guest Speaker: Sigrid Zweygart-Perez, Pastor of the Evangelical Church in Heidelberg.
Sigrid Zweygart-Pérez is a pastor of the Evangelical Church in Heidelberg. She gained her first experiences as a village pastor before moving to the famous Heiliggeistkirche in Heidelberg. Since 2015 she has worked as a pastor at the arrival center for Baden-Württemberg. There, in the former American town of Patrick-Henry-Village at entrance to Heidelberg, she, together with her colleague from the Catholic Church, is the point of contact for the employees, and above all for the refugees themselves.
Pregnant women, and women traveling alone particularly take advantage of the aid offered by the churches. For them, the situation in a refugee camp is particularly stressful. Experiences of sexual violence are often seen especially with those who have been traveling long.
Pastor Zweygart-Pérez will talk about her everyday life in the Patrick Henry Village and will talk about how we as a receiving society can contribute to the successful integration of women in particular.
