International Women's Day - 08.03.2025
We celebrated this year’s International Women's Day by attending the Networking Lunch at Karlstorbahnhof, hosted by Deputy Mayor Stefanie Jansen, who oversees Social Affairs, Education, Family, and Equal Opportunities. This special event offered a fantastic opportunity to connect with women from all across Heidelberg. The panel discussion centered on the experiences of #womensupportingwomen, exploring how the future of Heidelberg can be shaped to promote intersectional feminism, female empowerment, and influence across various sectors. The panel emphasized that as women, we should not hesitate to see our experiences as a "gift to the world" and not hiding ourselves.
A big thank you to @eveinobulor for moderating, and to the inspiring women on the panel: @bernadettesonnenbichler, the first female Director of the Heidelberg Theatre and Orchestra (starting in 2026/2027), @lena_joehnk, the new Program Director of the DAI, Sandra Arendarczyk, Heidelberg’s new Women's and Gender Equality Officer, Katja Patzel-Mattern, Prorector for Innovation and Transfer at Heidelberg University, Eva Paula Mendes de Oliveira Gomes, Chairwoman of the Migration Advisory Board HD, and Dr. Marilena Geugjes.
After a brief lunch break, we continued in discussion groups, diving into topics such as female utopias in culture, diversity, gender equality, work, scientific research, and more. We are truly inspired by this special #InternationalWomensDay2025 #WeltFrauentag and deeply grateful for the chance to connect with such a remarkable group of women.
